Project Details

The Construction of Al Khufoos Street (P029 C1) Project comprises road improvements with grade-separated structures at intersections in the subsequent phase to enhance traffic flow capacity in the Western Doha area, awarded by the Public Works Authority to Boom Construction to a Contract amounting to Qar 376,967,349.65.00.

The Al Khufoos Street is a two-lane asphalt carriageway from Al Furosiya Street to Ch.2+680 and in the section between Ch. 2+680 and Ch. 3+600 (the Lekhwiya camp where the Al Khufoos Street Limit of Work (LOW) ends) no road exists and the traffic uses alternative local roads.

There are three important grade signalized junctions which are: Al Khufoos Street / Al Baaya Street; Al Khufoos Street / Umm Al Jamajim Street; and Al Khufoos Street I Wholesale Market Street / Al Naja Street.

Al Khufoos Street is to be upgraded in phases. Boom Construction’s Contract is for the interim phase wherein the road gets widened to a dual two lanes carriageway and with dual three lanes at the end section to tie in with the cross-section of an up-gradation for a major intersection to be taken up subsequently. The approximate length of the road improvements undertaken by Boom Construction for this project is approximately 3.62km.

The upgrading works included the provision of flexible pavement, traffic signal works, ITS works, design, and construction of micro-tunnels for foul sewer drainage, design of crossings, walkways, cycleways together with landscaping and Artscape treatments. Traffic Diversions were also part of the scope of Boom Construction in this Project.
