THE CONSTRUCTION & UPGRADE & AL RAYYAN ROAD PROJECT 7: CONTRACT 1 WEST OF NEW RAYYAN R/A TO EAST BANI HAJER R/A (IA 12/13 C 057 ST) was awarded to Boom Construction by the PWA to an estimated amount of Qar 1,019,796,221.46 including variations.

The Project comprises the construction and upgrade of the section of Rayyan Road from east of the Bani Hajer Roundabout at the western extent of the scheme, to west of the New Rayyan Roundabout at the east end of the scheme, together with the construction and upgrading of associated side roads and service roads. The total length of the improvement scheme is approximately 2.9km plus 2km of side roads, associated service roads (approximately 5.8km), minor junctions and structures.

The project has a varying vertical alignment with four traffic lanes in each direction (plus turning lanes at junctions) with a dividing median along Rayyan Road. The Project included a total of three interchanges such as:

Junction R2: Intersection of Rayyan Road and Al Wajbah Street:

This interchange is an at grade right in-right out junction, with Rayyan Road with free flow traffic at grade

Junction R3: Intersection of Rayyan Road and Al Salam Street:

This interchange is a three level junction with Rayyan Road passing with free flow traffic beneath an at-grade signalized junction. A 760m viaduct carries traffic from Al Salam Street at +1 to tie into westbound traffic on Rayyan Road.

Junction R4: Intersection of Rayyan Road and Al Qalah Street:

This interchange is a two level junction with Rayyan Road passing with free flow traffic beneath an at grade signalized junction.

The project includes earthworks, kerbs, footways and paved areas, flexible pavements, pedestrian bridges & underpass, RC vehicle structures, SWD, hard and soft landscaping, provision for future public and private utility services, and diversion and protection of existing utilities (eg. water, sewer, TSE, EHV, HV, MV, LV, Qtel, QAF & MOI-SSD). Design and Build works for Traffic Signals, MSE walls and Microtunnelling is part of the scope of Boom Construction.
