For more than a decade, State of Qatar has been witnessing massive development everywhere in the country. This expected through forecasted huge increases in demand in the years ahead. The forecast fast growth rate figure is similarly reflected in the many international business reports stating that Qatar has quickly become the best growth country and future expectations remains the same as compared with Gulf and North Africa region.

Along with the continuing massive development, parallel requirements for additional water production at the producer side as well as corresponding associated pipeline and water satellite facilities shall be constructed in a fast timing manner to meet the demand growth and emergency water requirement.

Accordingly, Kahramaa has decided to negotiate for new additional capacity of water production facility with an IPWP. This facility shall be located at Umm Al Hul and is planned to produce 60 MIGD of distilled water while Kahramaa, on its part, shall construct new 1600 mm transmission pipeline to transmit water to Existing MIC 1200mm and 600 mm Transmission Line at Al Wakra Industrial. The new production facility is perceived to be constructed by and Independent Power and Water Producer (IPWP) through Bidding process and is expected to be commissioned as early as April 2022.

Meanwhile, a new 1600 mm associated transmission pipeline shall be constructed to connect from the proposed new Facility E in Ras Abu Fontas and convey water to the nearby Mega Reservoir site in Al Thumama (PRPS-5). The new production facilities will be constructed by an Independent Power and Water Producer (IPWP) successful bidder and expected to be commissioned earlier by April 2022.

As the issue of water production plants and associated pipelines and its interfacing shall be constructed separately and in parallel by the two parties there is severe liquidated damages to be paid by the delayed party, therefore, it is extremely important to finish construction according to the provided milestones or before even to avoid such consequences.

The scope of this Contract is to provide detailed design, supply material & equipment, construct, erect, test, and commission of the Contract components associated with Facility E and Umm Al Hui Plants

Facility E project under kahramaa was awarded to Boom Construction Company with a contract value of Two hundred Three Million Six Hundred Seventy Four Thousand Four Hundred Eighty Five Qatari Riyals (203,674,485.00) with the duration of 730 days.
