Project Details

The Road and Infrastructure in Mebaireek (Zone 81) Package 1 and 2 Project was awarded to Boom Construction Company by the Public Works Authority to a Contract amount of Six hundred twenty six million three hundred fifteen thousand one hundred seventy two Qatari Riyals (QR 626,315,172.50) with project duration of 1,140 days. The project provides upgrades to the local roads, drainage, underground utilities and other related streetscape facilities such as kerbing, lighting, footways and landscaping. The purpose is to bring the infrastructure up to the national standards and comply with the Qatar Highway Design Manual (QHDM). The project will provide solutions to significant traffic issues and existing hazards to pedestrian and cyclist which are of particular concern within the retail commercial district. Enhancements to the streetscape are proposed which will make the road corridors more attractive and livable for the residents and other users. Proposed works and infrastructure schemes within and surrounding. This package has also been identified and their possible impacts have been assessed with the help of various stakeholder liaisons. The main improvements can be summarized as follows:

1. Safer roads and streetscape for motor vehicles, pedestrians and cycles.
2. Enhance parking facilities within the project area
3. Reduction of flooding after heavy rainfall periods, as a result of the proposed surface water/storm drainage system.
4. Groundwater controlled to 4m below ground water level.
5. Improved water resource management, complying with Qatar Drainage Master Plan
6. Control of pollutants entering the surface water network.
7. Foul drainage infrastructure
8. Provision of TSE water for landscape irrigation and the required infrastructure network.
